Julie Sturrock – An Appreciation

It is with great sadness that we report the death of IRRI’s Board Director and first Chair, Julie Sturrock, on Saturday, 7th March. Julie was influential in the foundation of IRRI and has been a great friend and supporter ever since. She joined its Board on foundation in September 2005, and was elected Chair at that meeting, only stepping down when she decided to retire from the Council.  She stayed on the Board, however, and worked tirelessly for the long-term future of IRRI. She will be sorely missed, as a friend and support, as well as a Director. All concerned with IRRI offer their most sincere condolences to George, Becky and Sam, whom many of us also count as friends.
